Everyday Actions: Project Dandelion
Regular feature by our editors highlighting one easy, practical action
Bending The Arc editor and poet Alice Willitts’ recommendation for action is:
Join Project Dandelion and become a dandelion yourself.
Project Dandelion is a women-led global campaign for climate justice calling on women of the world to unite in action for a climate safe world. They could not be more thrutopian!
Their big vision is to enable true coalition and model post-patriarchal solutions that directly benefit the climate majority. We know that the climate crisis is unfair and disproportionately affecting women and children across the world. Inspired by the resilience of the dandelion which has one goal - to seed more dandelions - that is their goal too.
Here are some of the great and encouraging things happening right now around the world that caught my eye from Project Dandelion’s latest newsletter:
Gender is a climate issue. Partner @waterbearnetwork curated two powerful film playlists to share with our community: Women on the Frontlines and Defending Women’s Rights. From climate justice to human rights, each film is free to stream and amplifies women leading the way.
@PanoramaGlobal’s latest publication, Bridging the Climate-Gender-Health Nexus: A Funder's Starter Guide, explores how climate and women's health, especially sexual and reproductive health, intersect, and offers strategic recommendations for driving solutions. Get to know the innovative organisations working at the nexus of climate, gender and health, and learn how you can take action.
Dandelion @patmitchellmedia is calling attention to a powerful truth: up to 89% of people around the world want governments to do more to tackle the climate crisis. She highlights the 89% Project, a new initiative from Covering Climate Now, The Guardian, and AFP that aims to amplify the voice of this global climate majority.
Dandelion @jeanoelwang delivered a powerful TEDx talk at the Planet Action Summit, honouring the global collaborators behind the Planetary Health Check, including Johan Röckstrom and the @planetarygdns. Her message? Collective action, rooted in connection and urgency, is how we save the planet — again.
Partner @wecan_intl is hosting an impactful Earth Day event on April 22nd, 2025, focused on the role of Indigenous women in climate action and Earth defence. This powerful gathering, part of #UNPFII, features global leaders like Casey Camp-Horinek, Cindy Kobei, and María Violet Medina Quiscue, who will share urgent challenges and inspire solutions. Don't miss the chance to hear directly from these frontline changemakers.
Dandelion @KatharineHayhoe created a Bluesky Starter Pack of climate action. This list brings together research centers, groups, labs, and departments that unite scientists, researchers, and communicators who are making real progress on climate.
See what’s possible when billionaires act for a liveable future. TIME covers the ways Michael Bloomberg’s Billion-Dollar Climate Bet Is Paying Off:
Michael Bloomberg has invested over $1 billion in climate action, with notable successes such as helping close 300 U.S. coal plants and reducing New York City’s emissions by 20%. His philanthropic efforts, including funding the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal campaign and global initiatives like C40, focus on accelerating the clean energy transition and empowering local climate action. Despite political pushback, Bloomberg has doubled down on funding climate initiatives, emphasizing that economic growth and climate progress go hand-in-hand.
At Bending The Arc, we believe in the power of stories to change our everyday actions and inspire systems change.
