It's a wrap! More to come...
Today marks the end of Edition One of Bending The Arc – thank you for reading!
We hope you’ve enjoyed this first selection of thrutopian writing, whether you’re new to the genre or already on your way to imagining a thriving, liveable future. We’ve been glad to have you with us as we launched this new vessel onto the choppy waters of the world. Edition Two of Bending The Arc will be out in October 2025.
Since going live on Earth Day, 22nd April, we’ve shared fiction about football and first love, poems that look to the skies and the bees, interviews that imagine tomorrow, insights into re-wilding and re-making a life, and much, much more besides.
If you’ve missed any of our posts, or if you subscribed part-way through this first edition, fear not! All the pieces from Edition One can be found on our Substack page.
Feeling inspired? We want to read YOUR thrutopian writing! We’ll be open for submissions for new poetry, fiction and non-fiction from 7th to 31st July. And why not try our ‘How To’ post on writing a thrutopian shovel poem to get you started.
One of our goals at Bending The Arc is to spread the word about thrutopian writing and provide a platform for writers. We’ll be featuring reviews in future editions so if you’re a writer, an editor or a literary agent and you have a thrutopian title that would be of interest to our readers, please get in touch with us by email: bendingthearcmagazine@substack.com.
While we’re planting and watering Edition Two, we’ve got more thrutopian writing to keep you inspired. Three of our editors – Ilse, Alice and Hilary – recently spoke to Modron Magazine about experimenting with poetic form, language and narrative to address a new way of thinking and writing into the future.
Until next time, please share Bending The Arc and help us inspire writers far and wide to explore thrutopian ideas in their own work, so that readers everywhere can have their imaginations ignited towards what’s possible, and what’s desirable for tomorrow.
See you in October, thrutopians!
The editors: Laura Baggaley, Ilse Pedler, Katherine Stansfield, Hilary Watson & Alice Willitts
